Cranston, RI (May 1, 2025)—We take great pride in the hard work and dedication of our Gannon & Scott team members. Mark Gifford, Incinerator & Tray Furnace Operator, has more than exemplified these values over the past 19 years with G&S.

“Mark is one of the most dependable and hardworking team members I’ve had the pleasure of working with,” says Andrew McManus, VP of Operations. “Whether it’s troubleshooting on the line or stepping up to support the team, his willingness to go the extra mile does not go unnoticed. We are fortunate to have him at G&S.”

When asked about his favorite part of the job, Mark shared that he enjoys the versatile customer materials he works with, the people he communicates with every day, and “working for the best in the business...the Gannon Family.” Reflecting on his time at Gannon & Scott, Mark fondly shares how he remembers “the welcoming and thoughtfulness of the people who run and own this company.”

With over 38 years of refining experience, Mark stresses the importance of customers to communicating effectively with those processing their material and collaborating as a team for a smoother process.

For those just starting in the field or interested in working in this industry, Mark offers this advice: “Be accountable, be on time, and come to work every day willing to do whatever it takes.” He also emphasizes, “It is a great business to work in. I have worked in it for 38 years, and it’s been fun.”

Mark is an avid watch collector but when he is not collecting, he is giving.  Mark has contributed to several impactful projects at work and in the community. In addition to lending his hand to his fellow coworkers’ initiatives, Mark annually supports great causes like the American Cancer Society, Toys for Tots, Girl Scouts, and various local school projects.

While we look forward to celebrating Mark’s 20-year anniversary with him in the very near future, we are happy to take a moment now to look back on Mark’s experience in this industry and to thank him for all of his contributions to Gannon & Scott over the years.
