Cranston, RI (February 27, 2026) – With the recent retirement of Smelter Relations Supervisor Cindy Bishop, Matt Schulde has transitioned from Sales to the role of Smelter Relations & Certified Destruction Supervisor.
With over seven years at Gannon & Scott, Matt has developed a deep understanding of our operations, the materials we process, and the broader industry. He will assume Cindy Bishop’s smelter responsibilities, maintain select customer relationships, and continue his outstanding leadership of the Certified Destruction program with support from Jackie DeRosa.
Announced in a press release last year, Jackie joined the team in 2024 and worked very closely with Cindy right from the beginning to ensure a seamless transition for the smelter partners. She is familiar with Gannon and Scott’s accounts and processes. In her role, Jackie will oversee shipments, assay exchanges, and settlements, serving as the primary contact for our smelter partners.
Working in smelter relations has been an incredible experience for Cindy. In 1999, Cindy joined the company after working with two other refiners and quickly became the cornerstone of the Smelter Relations department. For over two decades, Cindy has built trusted partnerships and a strong reputation across the industry, with outside refiners and logistics providers. Her commitment to her work, as well as to partners, customers, and colleagues, has left an exceptional mark here. “It has been a privilege to work alongside this team, build a meaningful network of refiners and logistics providers, and support the standards Gannon & Scott is known for,” says Cindy.
"Mentoring Jackie and seeing her step into this role gives me great confidence that she and Matt will excel and continue elevating the experience our partners and customers receive, making them feel supported, informed, and prioritized," says Cindy.
"I want to congratulate Cindy on her retirement. I've valued being mentored by Cindy and learning from her years of experience," says Jackie. "I'm excited to step into this role and continue the work Cindy has done to build this department. I look forward to continuing to get to know every one of our smelter partners and supporting them in any way I can to make their experience seamless and efficient." Matt also stated, “Cindy has been a pleasure to work with, and I would like to congratulate her. Grateful for the opportunity to step into this side of the business, I will continue to offer support wherever needed for our Certified Destruction and refining customers, as well as our smelter partners."
For 26 years, Cindy has been a significant part of our processes. "While it’s never easy to watch a long-time team member retire, we are extremely grateful to celebrate her career. Her contributions have strengthened our partnerships, and she has set forth a standard that will continue long after she steps into her next chapter.
-Michelle Cullion, Senior VP of Administration.
Please join us in congratulating Matt on his new role. We are excited to watch Matt and Jackie continue to grow both individually, while strengthening the department as a whole. Gannon & Scott wishes Cindy the very best and thank her for two decades of exceptional dedication.
